I responded, under my most secret nom de plume, LarryTaylorJr,
"It appears that they co-exist nicely. But the loons have left eastern lakes in the Valley coincident with human development. No one knows why. Loons like to remain on the same lake year after year and live to be some 20 years old. So it's possible that the ones we see like it here more than they mind human activity, but such activity may not be welcoming to new loon pairs. When the old couples die out, there may be no replacements. I want to keep the loons, but don't know what to do about it."
